MPDS – Multi Platform Dimension Shooting is a new dynamic sport shooting discipline, uniquely tailored for South African sports shooters offering a refreshing perspective on defensive shooting but keeping the core basics of sport shooting.
The sport is new to South Africa having been launched in mid-2021 and already has an enthusiastic following by our own sports shooters and is an easy transition between any other discipline for any skill level of shooter. MPDS fundamental tenets are safety and although its core is defensive shooting it is geared towards being fun for those shooters that compete. Due to the many faceted divisions that are available no shooter should feel excluded.
MPDS caters for many diverse types of shooting with matches being a compilation of handguns, long guns, shotguns, or a combination of all the mentioned firearms. MPDS has been created by shooters for shooters and it is always willing to entertain innovative ideas for its matches. An example of this has been the “Tag Team” events that are already proving to be a winner with shooters even in the brief time that they have featured.
MPDS is officially recognised as a Dedicated Sports Shooting entity by SAPS/CFR and after completing the Dedicated Sports Shooter program, a member may be awarded the DSS Status by MPDS.
All competitors will compete against other shooters of a similar skill level. A Novice shooter within a specific division will compete against all other Novice shooters within the same division in the match. No special equipment is needed, just a holster, magazine pouches and a concealment garment that fall within the requirements as set out in the MPDS rulebook.
